(I am not a pro at all, so take my advice for what it’s worth)
I used a brand new wood hole saw and drilled into a 1/4” thick tank with no issues. My only advice is that if you can, use a piece of wood on the back side of the hole and to keep the acrylic from breaking out as the hole saw exits. I drilled the bottom of the tank while sitting on a piece of plywood, then to drill the hole on the back side I laid the tank on its back on the plywood and drilled it.
