Title: I'm Back!!!
Post by: Ohioreefjr on November 22, 2018, 02:37:36
Well everyone, after quite a bit of time out of the hobby I am officially back into the saltwater hobby. When I left for the Army I had to tear down my tank amidst it's glory days, and with the help of some of our club members, I am well on my way to having it back up to par. I had it cycling for awhile, but am just now getting around to posting about it. So here is the introduction.

I have a coralife BioCube that I recently upgraded the hood on. When I bought it quite a few years ago, it had the fluorescent hood on it, and recently we upgraded it to the LED hood. I failed to take picture prior to adding my coral, but here is a picture of my tank as she sits now.

And I need help id’ing These guys. They are hard to get a picture of, but they look and move almost like a small sea hare or cucumber. They are about an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch in size. I have no clue what they are and am looking for help with figuring out what they are

New update 1 month after starting this thread.

Everything is growing well. Do have a few algae issues however my new clean up crew from aquarium depot is doing a pretty good job cleaning it up. The corals are all growing well, and watching the growth in the tank is my favorite part of the whole process!

Update cont.

I Built a media basket for my tank instead of purchasing one. So far it has filter floss in it and a sponge. Not sure what to put in my other compartments, does anyone else have any suggestion for what to put in the other suggestions?

Update Cont.

Shortly after building my new media basket I made a purchase on Aquarium Depot's website for a clean up crew. I ordered one of the nano packs that ships free, then made sure to add a few additional corals during the 50% off sale. In total I received 16 bags. I had also ordered a feather duster and he died, however, aquarium depot refunded me for him within a day of my claim and I will order from them again for sure.

My order consisted of:
Brown leg hermit crabs
Two heads of purple candy cane
Cerith snails
an emerald crab
red gorgonia
Green Ricordhea
Icy hot zoanthids
Nassarius snails
blue leg hermits
turbo snails
scarlett hermits
white leg hermits
a blasto
a small serpeant starfish
porceline crab
feather duster (RIP)

Now onto my coral growth:

Update continued

And i have to have pictures of the Original livestock. We have two domino damsels that we orginally intended to put into a frag tank later on, but they have become part of the family. They interact and play with my children everytime they come near the tank, and they play tag with each other amidst the rock. My daughter named them Rex and Dino! We also have two peppermint shrimp that are the most active I have ever seen. They love to come out during the day and clean everything!

On another note, does anyone have suggestions for fish that maybe won't be picked on if they get put in the tank with the damsels? I know damsels can be mean and territorial.

***Make sure to scroll up to see all the progress my tank has made***

Added a few new items to my tank a few weeks ago and figured I should share  :be happy:.

1.)The first picture is of one of my favorite fish period. It is a lawnmower blenny. since putting him in the tank, he has done a wonder on some of the algae problems I did have. Rebecca my daughter named him Dory

2.)Next I added a scooter blenny, This guy seems to crave attention. Everytime someone gets near the glass he has to come right up to the edge. My daughter named him Nemo

3.) Next is a frag of mixed zoas I got from Gerbers. They were unable to tell me the name of them, but upon my own research, I do believe them to be two different species/breeds. I believe the frag has purple queens as well as daisy dukes on it. If someone else has opinions, I'd be glad to hear them.
