I put all new guts into the RODI and am currently flushing it. I hope to make water this weekend and get the tank filled and start cycling with Dr. Tim’s and ammonia.
Lighting will be provided by a Kessil a80.

After some more research I’ve determined a better light to be the AI Prime HD, so that will be what goes over the tank.
I’m currently filling up my mix container to start making saltwater and get the tank filled either tomorrow or Tuesday.

Good choice. Seems to be coming along.

At this point I’ll be excited to stare at it with only water and a light over it :)

Good choice! I use 4 of them over my 75. Just try to be better than me about tinkering with the spectrum lol

Haha, yeah, good luck with that. I’m a tinkerer. Just need to dial it in and let it ride...

I might be interested in a piece of that when you frag it... Does well in low light conditions I see... ;)

So this morning I ordered the AI Prime HD to go over top the tank. It’ll be here Friday. So this weekend I will have a shiny glass box filled with water to stare at
My cycle is stalled at 1.5ppm ammonia and 2ppm nitrite according to Salifert test kits. I added some more Dr Tim’s last night so I guess at this point I just wait it out.

Let there be light!
Ammonia is at 0ppm, nitrite at 1ppm. Getting close to adding fish now.

You may not need the powerhead. On a tank that small, I’ve had good luck with just the return and not having to worry about anemones wandering. Exciting to see it coming to life.

Ready for fish! I have a quandary though. I wanted a Rainford Goby but with dry rock there’s nothing to graze. Any thoughts on what I could put in for a bit? Small clowns? Small royal gramma? Where to buy? I’m thinking Gerbers just because it’s convenient. I don’t want to lose the progress from the cycle by leaving it empty much longer. Recommendations welcome!

I ended up going with a firefish, a couple astrea snails, a couple ceriths, a couple hermits, and a couple test corals.

Bonehead move on my part cost my firefish it’s life this weekend. I have a 55g barrel for mixed saltwater that I keep running. I neglected to check salinity before my water change to combat dinos and ended up spiking salinity to 1.030... tank was running much lower... Good news is everything else survived and my dino situation appears to be under control.

Occasionally that happens. :-(
