July Meeting
« on: June 15, 2010, 20:14:15 »
I haven't seen any objections to the date of Sat., July 24, so I guess that stands firm.  We're centrally located right off I-75 in Miamisburg - edge of Sherwood Forest/W Carrollton off Alex Rd.  In fact if you come to the Frag Swap on Sat, we're in that neighborhood.

We have a decked above ground pool, large fenced backyard, patio, gas grill...so plan on eating and swimming if you're so minded.  The water should be nice.

I'll post later on a menu, but I'm guessing the usual July outdoor fare:  hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill with the usual accompaniments.  Carry ins welcome.

We have a swingset and lots of small tot stuff if anyone wants to bring little ones.  It's a Kid Friendly Zone for sure.  Except we do have two Golden Retrievers and the male gets inordinately excited and vocal about company at first  ;D  He's always convinced people are here to see him.  If that doesn't scare you or your kidlets, then bring them on.

Someone want to suggest some sort of SW related project or talk?  I don't know if that's mandatory for these meetings or not.

So can I get a show of hands so far from those planning to attend?

Also, how many of you like pulled BBQ pork?  Or beef?  DH reminded me that I have gotten pretty good at making that and it's usually a crowd-pleaser  ^-^

As far as time, how about 1 pm to 4 pm?

We'll have the grill set up for hotdogs and burgers, and probably pulled pork.  I will also provide chips, and some pasta or potato salad.
It might be nice if someone wants to bring watermelon or something like that.
BYOB...we will have plenty of non-A drinks here (might have margarita fixin's!)  and also lots of kid friendly snacks and toys.

Bring bathing suit and a towel!

Location:
2500 Royal Ridge Dr
Miamisburg, OH

Phone if you get lost - call and we'll talk you in   :  937 866-0269

Agenda:  Tank Photography, so bring your camera.

Ok!  Good to know we'll have a few.  I hope our resident camera guru can still come.  If not, I guess we can spend some time sitting around in stunned amazement at the awesomeness of my three fish tanks  :bday2:

J/K - but I will send someone home with some nice Freshwater water sprite or caulerpa/chaeto from my SW sump if they want.

I bought the pork shoulder today, and we've been working on the yard for days.  The pool is looking really good and the temp is holding around 82-84* - woo hoo!

I forgot I'm going out with the Venturing crew that weekend (how is it that those outing keep coinciding with the club?). Can't remember if we're coming back Saturday or Sunday though (we leave Thursday). Maybe I can come back early if I don't have to drive the van.

I think we will be able to make it.  Can you PM the address?
75G Mixed Reef w/ 30G sump/refuge

Electrical Engineers do it on impulse, with faster rise times, with more power, and less resistance at higher frequencies, without shorts, until it Hertz

Here you go, Wes (Edit ;D).  Hope you guys will be here!

On a related note, I have a huge sarc that needs fragging.  Maybe someone wants to help me do that?  Free pickin's.  This guy is getting too large for the tank, I'm afraid.

One more post  ;D

Anyone really looking forward to burgers from the grill?  I can still add those to the menu.

I have hotdogs and BBQ pulled pork planned, plus pasta salad, plus 2 kinds of Chex Mix (homemade) and some killer Mexican dip and various chips.
We also have watermelon and Double Fudge Ghirardelli brownies for dessert. :P

Anyone is also free to bring munchies or whatever as well.  But if you *need and crave* a backyard burger, let me know ASAP!

The meeting was from 1-4. Sorry you couldn't make it for the raffle but most of us had plains after the meeting. If you are running late to the next meeting try and call someone or post it online to let them know. We were checking to see if anyone posted anything about being late or not showing while we were at the meeting.

Honestly, is it fair for you to show up at 3:58 when you know the meeting ends at 4:00 and win something when others were there for the entire meeting and might not have won something because you did?  If the only reason you were going was to win something, then perhaps karma took over...Were you really going to drive all that distance for a 2 minute meeting?  Just saying...

It was a good meeting, I thought.  Thanks to those who came and also for the compliments on the tank!  I really appreciate that, since I usually think my tank is a dog compared to most of the other members here  :D

It was nice getting to know a few of you a bit better, and had a nice visit with Matt afterward, anyway.  I'll PM that recipe to you.  Get anything good at Coral Ranch???

I wasn't trying to fuss about the time this was my first Ohio Reef meeting. But i have been to meetings all over and none have ever ended at the time posted i have been to 3 cincy meeting 2 fort wayne club meeting 3 saltgeek meetings.  Just never seen one on such a tight schedule.  If i cause drama by post wasn't intent. Justin was a lil disappointed.  But it is all good...... if meetings fall on days i work i just wont go
