Aqua C Phosphate reactor
« on: May 26, 2009, 07:17:32 »
I just wanted to double check and make sure I have it hooked up right.  The chmber has 2 filter floss discs.  Does one of the discs go on bottom with the media between it and the disc at the top?  The media is not moving at all in the chamber.  It is just sitting on the bottom.

yeah the media goes between the 2 sponges.  Have you got the water flowing the right direction it should be an upflow and if its still not moving you need more flow.

Yup.  The water should flow down the tube in the center, then up through the first sponge on the outside of the center tube...through the media...then through the top sponge and out the return tube.

OK, i got it right.  My maxijet must not be strong enogh to make it turbulant.  I will put my other pump on and that should fix it.  Thanks for the info.

You don't want the flow to be turbulent.  That would cause the granules to grind into dust that could kill your fish.  Just have it low enough so that the granules just slightly move...and the flow is low.

Also check to see if the flow restrictor is turned the right amount.  You can adjust it by turning the knob (I think yours has that on it).  Usually with phosphate reactors, the trick is getting low enough flow...not too much flow.

I will have to check when I get home, but I don't know if it has a restrictor.
