Just wondering what kind of garlic does everyone use?  Do you get it at the grocery and if so what kind.

I understand the benefits of garlic, but how are you using it in your food? are you making your own or something?

I have only fed mixed flake and both have garlic added. But my fish are really loving the frozen food Kenn suggested to use for my corals. So I have been kicking around trying my hand in making my own.

I take a few frozen cubes and mix in some garlic, tank water, and let it soak in the fridge for a while then over the next few days feed until its gone.

I used to make my own food and always added garlic.  I've been lazy the past year and have been buying frozen food.  I sometimes soak the food and/or nori in garlic.  I'm out now and wondered what everyone else is using.  I personally think it's a great benefit!  :)

I wouldn't recommend the Spice World Garlic ( I use it to cook with ) ... Its preserved with Phosphoric Acid. Not really something you want to add to your tank.

I have been doing it for over 2 years and things are fine, its probably such a low dose it has minimal impact if any......but for a purest, sure grow it out back with chicken $h^T, chop it up and serve it up right.

Just because I was curious ... I made a 20 to 1 solution of the "juice" in the container and tested it for phosphates.

It was off the chart !   The test tube ran around screaming for 10 mins

The ingredients listed on the jar are only ... Garlic, Water and Phosphoric Acid

Not sure what kind I use, I put it in a spray bottle. It does come from Meijer, I'll have to look the next time I get it.  I also read that if you spray it on the dog food, it will keep fleas away .... lol

You can pick up PURE garlic extract at almost any health food store. Not expensive and easy to get (for most of us :) )

I'll have to do that if what I use doesn't say "pure" on it.  Now, to just find a health food store, I have never stepped foot in one ... lol

hmmmmm I thought my location showed up.  I have no pic either.  I've been really slacking.  I'm in Troy.  3 blocks from downtown.   I know the Piqua Mall use to have one.  I'm sure there is a place here in Troy that sells health food.

There is a GNC in the Troy Towne Center on Main st. They may only have pill form. Check the label for "extra" ingredients so you know whats in it. You can crush the pill up ( I used to use 1/2 a tablet now I use liquid) and add it to a little tank water and food until it dissolves.

I haven't used this brand due to being worried about the sodium nitrates
