Ate by his own anemone
« on: February 01, 2012, 15:38:25 »
Was gone most of the day yesterday, so when I got home and was looking at my tank I noticed that my female clown was taking care of a clutch of eggs (usually the male does most of the work). I kept watching and did not see the male at all and after a search of the tank and floor could not find him. When I looked this morning I noticed the anemone expelling something (hadn't fed him in weeks). Upon closer examination I could tell it was the skeleton of a fish. I am assuming that for some unknown reason that he died and after he died the anemone treated him like any other piece of meat that finds it's way into it's tentacles. I hadn't noticed any disease or irregular behavior from the fish, they had just spawned several days earlier. Not sure if I will try to add another clown or clowns or just keep momma by herself.   :o :(???

"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."   < K >
