Wrasse in hiding?
« on: October 08, 2016, 18:59:48 »
So the carpenters wrasse I picked up last Sunday, which was out here and there the first couple days, has gone into hiding I guess. Haven't seen it the last couple days. Is this normal?

It isn't unusual for a couple hours but not days. Check in back part of tank. They can get through the smallest holes.

If you have an open top they will jump also. Check your carpet.

I've had wrasses hide from my view for weeks  But that wrasse should be fairly active and about.   Hopefully just a good hider, and not carpet jerky

Not in the back. Stripped it clean. Not on the floor or under the stand either. Great. Gonna be gone for 8 days. Could be a disaster when I get back.

Check a bit far from tank as well. I have had them jump and found them 8-10 feet from tank

I have a very tight lid. Tank is in open area on white tile. If it was on the floor I would see it.

If it perished in the tank, I've seen hermit crabs completely destroy a fish carcass overnight.

Sorry to hear that you lost that beautiful fish

Thanks Kenn. It was beautiful indeed. Hopefully Lazy will still have another in a couple weeks.
BTW,  checked all parameters. Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphates are all at 0
