10 gallon frag tank cycle
« on: May 19, 2009, 17:38:05 »
I just set up my frag tank yesterday.
I used ten gallons from my display tank and put in several pounds of rubble from my sump.

Is there any reason I should worry about cycling?

Also I had planned on putting in several red mushrooms tonight (that had attached themselves to rubble in my main tank).  Is there any reason I shouldn't?
Thanks and God Bless,
John

My guess is that it wont have a cycle until you put in more of a load on the biological system. For example add fish and food or add snails and crabs that are eating algae and producing waste. It is quiet possible if you have a very low load you may not even notice a cycle from your test kits. Monitor your ammonia and nitrites and keep us posted how things are going.

Well I put a couple of my red mushrooms in last night.
I will try to get pictures of it soon.
Thanks and God Bless,
John
