Not a huge deal, a part of the cycle!

Manual removal is best. Take a rigid hose and siphon it off when you do your weekly 10% water change.

yup, cyano bacteria. very common in new aquariums along with brown diatom algae. can be siphoned off during water changes, you can increase the flow to the area it is growing, or add "red slime remover", an antibacterial by boyd enterprises that kills it off over night. The red slime remover is more of a temporary bandaid fix and it may come back. are you using tap water?

get rid of the tap water, and declorinator...water change with ro/di will cease your problem...

You can get r\o at cubs for example:

the first time you have to buy the 5 gallon container for $15 but after that refills are only $1.79

I had to do this in emergencys and before I had my RO filters

I have it in my 'fuge.  Stirred up the sand, increased the water flow, water changes already being done, and using ro water.  Still there.  Gonna try the antibiotic next.

If it stays in the fuge, dont worry about it.  Instead of trying to kill it with meds that might mess with other bacteria, focus on trying to find what the source of is
