Anyone ever try chitons?

I come across these is my research. Says they love the turf type of gha. Just wondering if anyone has any experience using them for that or other reason?
Thanks in advance for any advise you may offer.

I never had one that I intentionally added last more than about six months. I assume not enough to eat or bad acclimation somewhere up the chain.

Now, I did have lots of hitchhiker chitons, and they did well.

Mine never survived shipping.  They were DOA, I never ordered them again.

I have never had luck with them.  They were mostly dead on arrival or didn't live but a few days.

I had a hitch hiker one that's been in my sump forever, but I've never ordered one myself.  Maybe shoot reefcleaners an e-mail to get their opinion.  They've always seemed to be very honest with me when I've asked questions.

I ordered eight of the ones sold by ReefCleaners.  One was DOA.  Two others died within a couple days.  The remainder died within a couple months.  I would avoid these.  If you are battling turf algae, then I'd recommend a small blue tuxedo urchin.  These remain small and don't tend to be as destructive as other urchins.

Are they reef safe? Any bad experiences with them?

They won't munch your corals, but they do tend to pick up small frags if they're not epoxied down. Some of them can be bulldozers if your rockwork isn't stable.
