Flow in bow front tanks
« on: November 15, 2009, 16:21:45 »
All you bow fronters, is there a nozzel placement that gives the best circulation in the total overall tank?  I have 2 return lines and have them pointed one to the right of center and one to the left of center pointed 1/2 the tank high.  Or am I thinking too much about it?

WOW sorry I missed this post....

I have 2 Koralia in my Bow Front. A #1 and a #2. I have one in the mid section right side pointed at an angle down while at the other side it is close to the top with a flow pointed at the surface.

With my large structure I had to play with the flow over a couploe of days to get it right. As a result I have no dead spots, water is flowing great around as well as through the structure and the greatest thing is the "Trans-Warp Conduits" or currents ( sorry but I am a sci-fi geek ) that the fish will use to shoot through the tank.

Here is a pic from my tank profile that might help with the description

Since this pic I have moved the left power head to point more upward

and my tank profile is here http://www.ohioreef.com/index.php?topic=4858.0

Hope this was helpful in some way
