Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and was refered by North Dixie Reef. I have a 120 gallon tank that has been Fish Only Live Rock for about 4 years now. I just moved it to a new location in my basement, and was able to add 50 gallon sump along with the 30 gallon refugium. I'm looking forward to some SPS as soon as the tank settles from the move. Just moved the remaining fish tonite (lost a few due to Ike). I'll post pics in the Tank section.
Look forward to talking with all the local reefers.
Thanks,
- Rayk

Ok, so ignore my other post asking about your hobby history. :) Welcome! Are you new to the area as well?

Man you live pretty close to where i work. I work on factory rd.

welcome aboard Rayk!

I live in Ashland Hills, which is off Grange Hall south of 35. Basically, behind the Beavercreek YMCA. But, I'm real close to Factory/35. To get there, I'd cut thru the 'old neighborhood' and pop out on Shakertown near North Fairfield and head toward 35.
I posted some history info in the tank section where Reef'd Up asked about it. Still can't post a pic, maybe tomorrow. But, no not new to area. Grew up in riverside, went to Carroll ('85) and UD ('89). Except for a brief stint in the military, lived here all my life. Moved from Shawnee Lake to Beavercreek in 2000. Kids go to Carroll and Ascension. Oldest should be going to UC next year, if she gets accepted into the engineering program and I don't spend all her college funds on SPS.....

there are plenty of us on here with good starter frags to help keep the cost down.
-
Thanks, appreciate it. Once tank settles in and water parameters check out after fish transfer, I'm going to start with 1 frag just to make sure.

Welcome, let me know when you're ready for frags. I need to get some of mine off my sandbed. I'm in Beavercreek as well.

Thanks MSUJenn. Whereabouts in Beavercreek, mall, south 35?

Near Dayton-Xenia and Grange Hall, not too far from you I believe.
-
Nope, not far at all. I'm just up Grange Hall, first left after the YMCA. I work at corner of Grange Hall and Colonel Glenn, so I'm going by there every day.

Good luck with your daughter in engineering. My fiance and I are both engineers as well. What type does she want to go into?
-
She is looking at mechanical. She really likes civil, but realizes mechanical is a bit more diverse. Freshmen year is all general Calc, Physics stuff anyways. I'm a EE myself, but been a software engineer/manager for the past 15 years.

Sweet. I did half aerospace and half mechanical...and I'm about to start my master's in electrical/aerospace. That's really great...always glad to see people going into engineering...especially women. Women definitely have a different perspective in the field, which can bring a lot to the table.
