So glad you powered through your issues, Brian.   Few would be so persistent!

My MP40 magnet split very slightly after a year and I had never used acid or vinegar on it.   It's just a design flaw.   Thankfully they replaced my wet side free of charge.

A few system updates

Alk/Ca consumption have been slowly climbing. It was at an all time low mid Feb at 38ml per day and is at 230ml now. Happy with that but hoping to achieve 350ml range by April.

I have been doing a flucanzole treatment because I had some algae that was bottoming out my nitrates. When I added sodium nitrate the algae would grow then consume the nitrate again. Vicious cycle. The flucanzole has knocked out most of the algae letting the nitrates climb back up to a good level again and acros are showing their appreciation with some fancy colors. I added a second dose this evening. Cheato has been chilling in 5g bucket while it does its magic.

I added a few new corals from Toby, Brian H, Tim, Jim H, Andy, Ricardo and a couple other reefing friends from the swap. Mainly softies and cyphestrea.

Astrena Starfish! - has anyone had them eat coral. Maybe due to the flucanzole treatment and taking away their food source has caused them to much on my coral! I noticed some chalices looked like they were munched on. Starting checking tank at night and caught them eating zoa frag. I think they have picked on some of my chalices and Favia as well. I will have to order a couple of harlequin shrimp for each tank this week.

Posts without pictures are boring so here is a dragon lady bounce.

Added a Moorish Idol and Powder Blue Tang. They are a bit thin coming out of Quarntine. Hopefully they fatten up over next few months with heavy feedings.

Well my moorish idol is not well. I am not sure what is going on. Not eating, heavy breathing and lathergic. No sign of any injury so not sure what’s going on. After five years with me it is going to be a tuff loss..... As I write this I just remembered something. I aded last week two pipefish. Maybe they brought something in

Yes sir it is a old video from back in 2014. Looking at my yellow tang he is also breathing a little heavy and being more skittish than normal. Having been almost  fanatical about quarantine it  bothers me that I didn’t know this and made bone head mistake. Makes it so much worse that I caused the issue. Ugh!
I’m sorry. We’ve all been there Brian. Hopefully it’s not too late to intervene and nurse them back to health.

If you need to treat them In my qt tank you are welcome to.  Sure dont want to put them in with your current qt tank's fish.  I can have it ready tomorrow.

Thanks Jeff for offer. He passed tonight. That happened really quickly. Time will tell if it was a communicable disease from the pipefish or just old age with the idol

I had it for 6 years and it was probably a couple years old when I got it based on size so neat guess is 8 years old. Everywhere I read it says average lifespan in wild is 2-4 years. That seems really really low but I want to believe it. Lol

Sorry about the loss, funny how a fish can become part of the family. He was a staple of Lazys coral  house for sure.  I love the personality of the idols and they are such a cool looking fish.

Mine is doing well. I moved him from the frag system into the display tank while the tangs and angel are in the qt tank. Now when I put the tangs and angel into the display the idol will have seniority:) If only it would stay that way. If he gets bullied the tangs might have to find a new home. None of the tangs have the personality the idol has.

Glad it is doing well. They are such docile fish with great personality.

on another subject, Alk and Calcium dosing has finally synced up. Dosing 316ml per day. Nice to have things growing again.

After five years with me it is going to be a tuff loss..... As I write this I just remembered something. I aded last week two pipefish. I didn’t know they could carry fish disease. I thought of them as an invert like a shrimp. Well that sucks

No other fish ever came down with anything. Still not sure why it died. I want to believe old age. Funny thing, I still have the pipefish. It is so cool and graceful. For the first couple months I was hatching brineshrimp and feeding that each day. Then once summer came I stopped and haven't feed since probably early March. Not sure what it eats, hasn't seem to get any thinner so it must be getting pods.

Here is an older video of it from back in December. It still looks same today

Not a lot to share. Things are doing pretty well. I added a Nero 5 in place of a 3k gyre in sps tank. A couple weeks ago the pump was stopped and my pipefish was stuck inside of it. I pulled it out. Skin was in rough shape and eye looked missing and it wasn’t able to swim just floated upside down but was alive. Thought it was a goner. It is now completely healed, eye is fine and it is aggressively spending its day hunting pods. Crazy

Well nothing else to post so here is some screen shots of apex. Trident after a year now is still doing great. I love it!
The dip on many of charts from 11/26 was water change day

Did you have the pump guard on the back of the nero5? So far that is the only bad comments about the neros  is the early ones not coming with fish guards. I really like the ones I bought. Have actually considered selling my mp40s and replacing them with the neros.

Yes I have it installed. The pipefish is so small it went right through it. I like it as well. It has some good. I haven’t yet hooked it up to WiFi to see what features it has. I wish it was able to be angled
