What is going on here, I see lots of odd things happening, is it against the laws of the group ( laws that are private) for non-paying members to know the truth

Club business is discussed with members only. That is one of the perks of membership. As a member you also have voting rights in various decisions.

Is that in the by laws, it seems that by us signing up for the forums that would make us members.

From the Bylaws:

"An individual joining the Ohio Reef Club, Inc. shall pay an annual fee set by the Board. The membership fee shall be established, and may be changed when deemed necessary by a vote of the Board."

I agree, I just asked for that to be changed. I wasn't aware that they arn't public, I've been a member since two days after I signed up

That is good, This is on of the few places that seem to keep things a secret.
I can look at many companies website and find bylaws

I assure you, not keeping a secret, just overlooked. Even our 'guest' forum was member only at one time because the people that change it are all members
