Title: Refugium Lighting
Post by: ohioreef on January 23, 2021, 22:17:27
I am going to use a Current Orbit Marine light for my refugium to grow chaeto. How should I set the channels? Should it be more blue or both set to 100%?

Crank it to 100! Red light might be ideal but blue light will still grow algae. It grows it in our displays just fine 😉

Yup.. if that doesn’t work great try a hydroponics light. When I had a refugium I used a cheap one off eBay and it worked wonders.

On my old tank I used a daylight CFL and worked great. I have this LED light laying around and thought if it'll work why not put it to use. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

I bought this light on Amazon (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LX1EO3W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).  It was fairly cheap, claims to be waterproof, and looks like it may work OK.  Once I get some Chaeto, I can provide some feedback.

Definitely write up a review. Will be interesting to see how well it works.
