From what Wes says yes. Especially if it can regulate 5-12V, everyone has something laying around that is within that range.

Sure, are you trying to run 6 powerheads in wavemaker or 2 powerheads in each of 3 tanks?  Im sure we can make something less complicated if i understand what the end goal is

I got the circuit laid out in CAD and most of it breadboarded, but I cant seem to find a 555 at my house.  Josh, can i get one from you?

Wes,

I don't think I have any either. I'll dig around in a sec for one.

Of course its always the 50 cent parts that hold up progress  ;D

There is always the electronics shop on broad street in fairborn! They have almost everything on hand you could need.

Didnt want yall to think i left you hanging lol.  I finally got off my butt and went and bought the $2 chip I was needing lol.  Well heres a vid of it in action, just used some xmas lights i had laying around.  Interesting enough i think the max blink rate is off, 100k pot is supposed to give me 30 seconds between switchs, but i think its actually much longer at max.  Doesnt matter anyways, just dial it in where you want and leave it there.  BTW if anyone hates debugging circuits I wanted to let you know that I was crazy frustrated because I had trouble getting the second string to blink.  After triple checking the circuit, it turns out it was a faulty connectoin in the breadboard!!!  Who susptects their breadboard is acting up!!!  :angry4:    Video:

I was just twisting it to show some of the switch rates.  In operation it is dead accurate on every switch wherever you set it.  JD you should have the eagle file tonight once I double check the CAD drawing.

If you're still taking orders... pls put me down for 1 of the upgraded models.

Also, in case no one else has asked, is there any way to add an option to run both powerheads at the same time for a cycle?  ie... PH 1 on, 30 secs, PH 2 on for 30 secs, both on for 30 secs, PH 1 on for 30, etc...

Not in the current implementation. The goal of these were to kiss. Do the red sea wavemakers, etc have that option? Without thinking about it too much I think it could be done with an extra chip or 2. Let us build and test the prototype board, and crank out a dozen or so for everyone and then we can talk about custom work if you still want it

That's cool... no worries.  Just thought I'd ask.  I'll let you guys get thru the standing orders and if you get the time to go back and redesign with that feature, put me back on the list.

Thx

Hello,
Are you still making these?  I am not a member of your club, I am a member of C-SEA because of my location.  I have been interested in one of these for some time.  I have looked on many do it yourself sites but, I am a carpenter, all the electronics are way over my head.  I would be willing to get you the money either through the mail or would even be willing to drive to you for payment and pick up.  Let me know please, the upgraded model sounds sweet.
Thanks!
Matt

..... I need a part from JD, and 3 times he conveniently "forgot" it last week when we met up... Hopefully I get it this week and can build the test board to confirm the layout. Then I can order the bulk for people still interested. Remember, Diy maybe cheaper but it's certainlly not faster :) and there is almost not profit in the pricing of these for me, so not incentive to get it done NOW, and I just started grad school. So, while I'm not purposely taking my time, it's in the works. The idea was to provide a piece of eq at a super low cost that most folks wouldn't buy because of price. If anyone really needs a wavemaker now, go buy one :)

Hopefully by the end of the week I will be ready to Collect money and order stuff. It probably helps if I set a goal like that :) after I order it will probably only take a weekend to assemble.

Hello,
I am very interested in in one these.  I have seen them on many diy sites.  I am a carpenter, and my electronic skills are dangerous at best.

I am not a member of your club but, I do belong to C-SEA.  I upon occasion look onto your forums for some good reading.
Just wandering if there were any of these wavemakers you guys make laying around for sale?  Please let me know, I will be checking back in from time to time.
Thanks
Matt
