Eh, copy-cat!

I am having the same issue as you though. It is either producing nothing or to wet. Might be due to lack of bioload.  I did vent it outside with large tubing so it takes in outside air and is really quite now.

I dont think it would produce skim mate without a bioload. But I need the quite. I thought it was very quite.  Would you suggest I wait to make up my mind? Are you ready to get rid of yours yet? ;D

Nikki: How long have you used yours? Is it broken in yet and are you pleased with it?

I've had mine running for about 7 months now.  No, I'm not happy with it.  It either produces nothing or too wet.  Granted, I haven't messed with it much, but it's still a pain.  And...I've got a bioload...that angel eats like a pig (plus the other fish).  I might try a mesh-mod on it.  I don't know...like I said, haven't looked into it much since we've been working on the canopy since the dawn of time.

What kind of pump does it have? gate valve? Do you think it is a "too large of bubble" problem that mess moding would solve?

Granted i have a crappy skimmer currently, but i adjust the water level to where i need it and then micro adjust it with a needlevalve on the air side.  Probably the wrong way of doing it, but is easyer to control.  Maybe that would allow you the added precision you need

They have two Sicce PSK-250 pumps. It could be user error. I have not played with it all that much either and admit to not really knowing crap about skimmers.

This is it here http://www.saltysupply.com/Reef-Octopus-Extreme-Series-EXT-250-p/oc1046.htm

The top tube "spins". It is cut on an angle and blocks the T to adjust the water level. It is the same setup as my reeflow.

How would you rate your reeflow, Slandis?

Does anyone have an octopus extreme 250 that has had better results?

I have to wonder if this is the one I want or not.

I really like my reeflo 200. I think the stock pump (dart gold) is too big for the body. I am looking into finding a snapper pump to see if it will fit. That will hopefully cut down on the turbulence inside the skimmer body as well as cut back some electric cost.

I have the octopus 200 in-sump.  It uses a single Sicce pump.  I don't have a problem with it.  The venturi on the air intake stays clean.

Every skimmer that I have used.  Aqua-C EV series, Euroreef CS series, and now the Octopus will occasionally run over.  That's why I keep the skimmer cup clean, and I use an in sump, so it doesn't make a mess.  If I was using a recirc skimmer out of the sump, I would still have it in some kind of a container, or overflow pan.

What is the diff between the oct.200 in sump and the oct. extreme 200?
