Want to Trade clowns?
« on: March 22, 2009, 01:12:14 »
I have a pair of tank raised Black and White Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) that are not taking to my RBTA. I've tried to coax them in there but they haven't looked twice at the anemone. I've been reading that they do not naturally host RBTAs but rather LTAs, Ritteri, and carpets. I really would like hosting clowns in my tank and I'm really likeing my anemone and do not want to change anemone types so I would like to trade my clowns for a species that naturally host RBTA anemones.

If anyone has a pair of Clark's Clownfish (Amphirion clarkii), Red and Black Clownfish (Amphiprion melanopus), or Gold Stripe Maroon Clownfish (Premnas biaculeatus) but I'm worried the maroon might be too agressive for my tank.

I wold prefer a pair of the Clarkii but will consider any offers. I would also consider selling mine if I can not find a trade. i paid $100 for the pair make an offer.

Sorry, I'll pass on that one. If I don't find a trade or get a reasonable offer I'll just hang on to them.

I think I have the same pair but mine aren't black, they're still just white stripes and orange body. but they're a mated pair....not sure if they host what you want them to host though....

i am interested in your pair. i have a single gold stripe maroon that i have had for about a year and a half he can be tempermental but he is the first saltwater fish i purchased. i can almost give you a guarantee that he will host in something inside your tank. at this moment he is hosting in some weird ricordia/mushrooms that i have. he or she is about 3-4 inches tip to tail.

How old are they? Is there a huge size difference in male and female?  I also have a black pair, I am trying to determine age.  They are both about 3 inches.  They look identical, how about yours?

Same, there is a slight size difference but not huge. They are both around 3 inches as well, 1 is maybe 1/2 inch longer.

Well I believe I'm going to be putting the trade or ale on hold. I went to World of Pets on Florence today and found a beautiful relativly young Allardi clown today that I decided to buy and put him in the tank with my black clowns and see how they do together. So far there hasn't been any agression and seem to be tolerant of eachother. We'll see over time if they can co-exist. If not I will part with the black ocellaris. By the way the Allardi went straight for the RBTA. I will post pics in my tank tread if you are interested. Link in signature.

Sorry, but all three of my clowns are doing well together. They even hang out together when the allardi isn't in the anemone. I've heard it was unusual but the two species are getting along fine in my tank so far.

Just watch them.  I had three clowns in a tank and once two of them decided to team up, the third one was found lying under a rock with all of its fins missing.  And that one was supposed to be the mean one - a gold stripe maroon.
