Coral Pets is the best.  His prices are unbeatable.  Montfort is not bad, but the prices seem high to me.  Other than that, there is not much.  You northerns have it good.

I was curious why alot of people on the site dont speak very highly of gerbers?  I have got a few things from them and the fish have been good strong additions, I had one issue and they totaly stood behind it and replaced it no questions asked.  can someone fill me in?  the prices are a little high, but the ussually have what im looking for and they are closest to me (that are open during the week).

Personally, I have been there 3 times in the last 5 yrs. Twice under the old management and once within the last year under the new. Before you literally needed rain shoes to come out dry, the employee's were horrible (the ones I came into contact with) who knew very little while giving "expert advice", their prices were through the roof, and quantity doesn't always mean quality.

BUT, in my last visit I was surprised that they cleaned the place up. They made it much smaller getting rid of the majority of freshwater fish and had employee's who knew more than the old employee's. Also, I was asked three different times if I needed help and talked to the manager and another employee for about 20 min about fish stuff.

If I were buying something I would go to one of our sponsors vs. them because, lets face it, with this economy my loyalties are to the ol'mighty dollar and who can give be the greatest deal.

There's many other reasons why people don't like them but these are from my experiences, and as I said their store has changed a lot for the better in my last visit.

Wet Pets is another to check out.

Warning: The owner Nick is a little harsh but he typically has nice fish and corals. Cash often = discount too

He acts like an A-Hole but he's ok,

Sounds familiar.  I did that when I first got into SW.  Got out my Yellow Pages and looked up all the fish stores in Ohio.

Funny story:  I'd seen Aquatic Technology online, and figured it would be just a short afternoon's drive.  I thought Columbia Station was near Columbus for some reason (new to Ohio back then) and so I kept on driving and driving....

Ha.  It even began snowing on me just as I got there.  Well of course, dummy, you are in CLEVELAND  ;D

It was a neat visit for a SW noob though.  Better than the places you visited, for sure.  There used to be another Cinci place that has now closed down called House of Tropicals, I think.  And if I recall correctly Joel's original shop was up off Wilmington Pike, right?  Somebody, anyway.

Bummer you trip was bad Dave, that sucks.

The shop off Willmington pike was not mine, that was the Aquarium House. I did work there though for about 5 years.

You mean someone would hire you? I always figured you ran your own shop because you couldn't ever find a job.  ;D

Must be the first place I ran into you, then.  Thanks for the correction.
