LED Group Buy
« on: February 04, 2013, 02:00:44 »
Anyone interested in buying some LED's? I was thinking of getting two of the first or second items pictured. Let me know what you want and I will call to see what kind of deals we can get.

Hey Brian I am interested but was hoping to make the cash at the frag swap to purchase them. Also they look very similar to the lights Marine Solutions offer and I believe MS offers a 2 year warranty and they are 1 of our sponsors.

I am in the search of lighting (preferablly l.e.d.).  But I was wondering how this compares with marine solutions sets?
I wasn't sure what unit you were looking at (my computer is acting weird).
I looked on Apollo website (at the Sunburst) and wasn't able to find any info on # l.e.d.'s per unit.
Not trying to knock them I just wasn't able to find the info I am familiar with in evaluating the l.e.d. units.
I would imagine that marine solutions could do a group buy also (if enough interest).  I would be in for 3 (depending on price).
Thanks and God Bless,
John

I can't view the link at work.... but I would assume that anything that is manually dimmable, would also be dimmable by a controller with some modification. As long as the driver is relying on a potentiometer to vary a voltage from 0-10v to control dimming, you could just pop off the  potentiometer  and hook it up to a controller.  It just all depends on how you feel about voiding your warranty....

The Kelvin for LED's is variable unlike Metal Halides. This is because the white 10k LED's are dimmable independently from blues allowing you to customize from a 10k to a 22k look. I just realized you were probrably reffering to kelvin if all LED's all on 100%. That is good question. Does anyone know aprox kelving with 1:1 Blue:White?  I have a few calls out to companies to get the best price for us. Hoping to get 120w model (couple color options) for $150-$160 with free shipping and no tax. I will contact Marine Solutions and Average Guys to see what they can do. Will post when I get the best price

I am definitely interested.  In the description it says:"30/60/90 optics can be added fo $15 per light."  Does that mean for each of the 55 lights it would be $15?  That number just seems way off but $15 for the entire fixture seems low.
Thanks and God Bless,
John

I am definitely interested, in at least three. I am leaning toward the  Bridgelux MultiColor 120w, unless anyone has any reason to be wary of this company?
Thanks and God Bless,
John

Any more info?
I guess here is where my main concern is with the l.e.d. I am in the planning (buying) stage of my new 220gallon setup. I have looked at a variety of different l.e.d.'s and had settled in with the marine solutions 120W. I like it because it is dimmable. However, after seeing the quality of the Onyx last night at Coral Cove I like that just as much. My concern is that the Onyx although higher quality is not dimmable (as of now, and when it comes out with dimmable it will more than likely be out of my price range).
On a 30" tall tank I would like to have a variety of softies, LPS, and SPS. I am concerned that the softies even if on the bottom may be burnt. Is this a concern or should I not worry?
Thanks and God Bless,
John
