WTB: Mag 9.5B Pump
« on: October 28, 2009, 09:33:40 »
My mag that runs my skimmer started leaking...  Looking to see if anyone has one just laying around they don't want anymore...  Please let me know if you have one & what you'd like for it, just trying to get my skimmer going again.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, are you using the Mag as an external pump or internal? There are horror stories associated with these pumps being notorious for leaking when being used as an external pump.

it is an external pump and yeah luckily i noticed it fairly early in the morning, but it had been leading for some time...  Luckily the take sits on some plastic that helped contain some of the water, but it did flow over into the carpet... :(

what would you recommend as a replacement??  I was thinking about putting the skimmer and pump in a rubbermaid container that way if it leaked it would buy me a bit until that filled up...  :(

Please let me know what pump you recommend... Definitely would prefer to not have a leak again in the living room... :(

How much room do you have? Are you wanting the same flow as a mag9.5?

well i'm not really sure about the flow rate... I bought the skimmer off another member 6+months ago and it came with the mag pump plumbed into the pvc for it...  So since it had gone bad I was just going to try and replace it with the same to keep it simple, but if there is a better suggestion, that can't cost a fortune, its only a small-medium sized skimmer for a 65, please let me know what pump I should look at... :P

As for space I have about 9-10 inches behind my stand that the skimmer sits in...

Good thing you caught it early on. Putting in a tub with one of these watchdog water alarms is a good idea to give you early warning of a leak. I think both Home Depot and Lowes has them for some where around 10$ maybe a bit more.
