Want to Borrow
« on: November 15, 2009, 14:09:30 »
Anyone have a 3/4" or 1" conduit bender I can use for an afternoon? I need to make one bend and don't feel like paying $40 for it... Thanks.

how tight of a bend do you need to make?

If you fill the conduit with sand you can bend it without kinking around a pole to get what you need, or a 2 liter or anything round.

I need a fairly broad bend.

I am making one of these

I think I'll give the sand method a try, thanks Lonnie!

How about we make it out of acrylic?  That would be sweet

Ya we could take a acrylic tube, bend it then fill it with clear acrylic epoxy and make it super strong.  Maybe a 3/4 - 1 inch dia. tube.  We could even run the cord inside before pouring in the epoxy. ;D  Oh and we could add some LED light strips as well  then the rod would light up with the light.

Hehe, no problem Lonnie. I think I will try the sand method. Does the sand need to be packed in tight?

HUNGER, I would, but I can't have the mounting post up-showing my $7 punchbowl reflector

Good News!

I was at the local hardware store during my lunch and found out they rent benders for only $3. Looks like I'm gonna take that route for simplicity's sake. Thanks for all the advice (and ideas :) ) Lonnie!
