Cars that can't go zoom zoom

A couple of days ago my car died while our running errands.  No warning just wouldnt start.  So I figure, battery, starter, altinator as the cultrate.  My wife comes and jumps me and I go home. Can wont jump again....wont hold any charge... So I figure battery.  GO get a new one and the next day take the battery back for core change and figure I would have it tested.

Apparently a car battery should hold something like 12.5 volts they test mine and it would hold like .3 volts. 

It died almost 5 years to the day of me buying the car.

A car battery is suppose to last about 5 years.  My dad worked in the battery industry for a few years.  Depending on the environment it is in - always hot South Florida weather vs milder Midwest vs extreme cold of Alaska - can lengthen or shorten that time.  Driving patterns also play a role.   I just changed the battery in our 6yr 4mth yr old car.  The dealership said it was not at full strength 1yr 4mths ago, but I held out until it wouldn't start one cold morning.  Saved me some money - my wife couldn't go out Christmas shopping that day

i was more surprised that it just up and died.  only got one jump out of it before it completely died
