Replacing pad on floating algae cleaner
« on: November 12, 2009, 09:14:08 »
Quick question.  I've had my JBJ floating algae cleaners for a # of yrs, and they no longer work as well as they used to (although they still out-perform the Mag Float that I bought as a replacement).  Has anyone ever tried replacing the pad on a floating algae cleaner?  Can regular velcro be used, or is there a special pad that must be used?

Thanks in advance,

Mitch

I peeled off the old, use acetone to clean up left over glue (be careful, excessive amounts of acetone will soften the plastic) and bought the heavy duty Velcro at lowes, cut to fit and stuck it on. It has help up pretty good.
