That is a staghorn coral, trade name Green slimer and comes from the reefs in Bali. It doesn't require much light (but can handle high light) and is one of the easiest of the hard corals and is pest resistant due to it sliming abilities.

Ok if u ever accidentally break a decent sized branch off let me know cause I'd like to pick up some. Plus it would give me an excuse to see your tank in person again ;)

Currently doing a cyanobacterial treatment with chemiclean. Tank seems to be going through the tribulations of a new system since the torching of the rock. I really need to get a refugium added with macro algae.

It's funny how hardy our tanks can be. Yet so fragile at the same time.

Thanks Steve and Myreef. Yes I took the purple stylo out, it got to large and was out of proportion to everything else.

I hope to have the same problem when I get back to corals! Haha nope sorry... That coral was just so big it looked out of place in the tank! Your tank is looking awesome! I wish mine had recovered like yours when I dosed it with that chem. I just didn't give enough oxygen to the tank when I dosed. I thought I had but learned the hard way how to properly dose chems! Keep up the great work on that tank! I hope to be able to swing over again sometime and check it out again sometime soon!

Your welcome anytime. I did a chemiclean treatment a couple months back. Seems like I have to do it about once a year to keep the cynao in check.

When I did it with not enough oxygen all it did was exacerbate the issue. One algae would go away but another would fill the tank. Just couldn't tackle all at once. You did it right and should let us know how much oxygen you gave to the system and how much you dosed . I did it on my125 with a total volume of 180 gallons. My results were the complete opposite.

I added oxygen using a large air pump and kept my skimmer going but had the wedge pipe wide open so it didn't remove any of the product. Turned off GFO and Carbon media. Then did a 50g water change on day 3, added fresh carbon and gfo.

I need to talk to you about gfo. I have s gfo system I got to put on my tank and never did when it was having problems. I want to know if I should is it from the get go or not when I start back with corals. I want my stuff to live and look awesome. Hopefully like your tank if I'm lucky! :-)
