Molokini Crater - Hawaii
« on: October 18, 2013, 12:19:31 »
Just got back from Hawaii, one highlight of the trip was a morning snorkeling at Molokini Crater Reserve just off the coast of Maui.   This is a top of a volcano that just didn't make into much of an island, but it turned into a great reef and spot to snorkel.

This was my first attempt at underwater photography while in the water myself, luckily, it was a very calm morning, so the water Ocean was smooth.    But just like taking pictures in your tank, some fish were more photogenic.   Let me start with a Map of where this was..... below is a google map link

The dive spot was just on the inner rim of the crater...   While this was a preserve, the state was nice enough to have set mooring locations, so the boats can tie off with out disturbing the corals.

When the boats arrive, they are pretty much surrounded with black triggers.....these guys were not shy, and by far the most numerous fish on the reef.

I had barely turned the camera on, and the next thing to appear was a small 4' green morray eel.  He was just crusing the reef.

From there it was just floating and swimming along the reef to see what I could find.....I'm just going to post these in no specific order, The Naso tang appears quite a bit, as the tail barbs and streamers were just too cool.
