Nox-ich/silicone
« on: March 05, 2011, 19:29:18 »
I just bought a used tank that I was planning on using for a sump/ref, when I got it home I noticed the silicone had the green look that it gets when nox-ich or similar products have been used in the tank. Does anyone know or think that this could leach out and maybe cause problems later?

Yes it is from the methylene blue and malachite green based medications. I doubt it could cause any issues. Some say copper can be absorbed by the glass and silicone and later leach out. I find it extremely difficult to believe that it could happen to the extent of causing any trouble in our tanks. Rock or other porous media perhaps.
