my 475g tank build

Been a slow painful process...... It's a FO tank & when I installed the sump (w/d filter) the sump cracked around the 2in bulkhead after a few weeks of running, no clue why it did this.  Long story short after attempting to patch the hole & finally getting the leak stopped the cracks continued to grow (yea I drilled a hole at the end of each crack, but they still grew) so I took a dremmel to the sump to cut it down so I could slide it out w/o sliding the entire tank/stand out from the wall, filter would only slide through the end.

In another week or so I am taking the sump to columbus to have a new end glued on to the sump & then a additional sump made to hold enough water when the power goes out




Tank is 120x30x30
Lighting 3 250w icecap MH with 3 luminarc III reflectors
filtration - wet/dry - yea old school
pump - Red Dragon 12m3 2400-2600 GPH - this thing is quieter then the maxijet 1200 powerheads.... very impressed!!!
skimmer - undecided- can't decide if I should try a octopus or what.  Putting the old modified ER RC-500 on the 220g
I do plan on running ozone on the tank one of these days

Man, if only that tank was 36" deep.....

Looking good, you have come a really long way since that cold day we unloaded the tank off the semi. Looking forward to seeing it full of water & fish!!

With that much water volume in the house have you had a chance to plan how to deal with the excess humidity?

yea, I have a ceiling fan like what's used in a bathroom attatched to a humidistat.  I just set the % humidity I want (or don't want) in the tank area & it kicks the fan on when above that number, it puts the air into my attic & out a vent on the end of the house.  The tank is going to be flush mounted so unfortunantly I will only see the front.  Thus the fan only has a area 14ft x 8ft x 3ft to pull from.

No updates..... unfortunantly   I am STILL waiting on a sump to be made which is taking a lot longer then expected (thus the wife isn't happy)

Filter is fixed.... just waiting on a sump..... hopefully any day I will be able to get it up and running
