12v power supply
« on: August 09, 2010, 21:14:06 »
I am looking for a 12v power supply that will put out at least 5amps @ 12v. What I am building is a unit plug in a few of my lipo batter chargers at 1 time. The one I have now pulls 1.3 amps and the one I am getting in a few days pulls about 2 amps. I have a wall converter but I would rather have 1 thing plugged into the wall vrs a few wall warts hogging the outlets in the garage. Some of you electrical guys out there probably know exactly what I need.

Got on old CPU powersupply?  They are easy to mod to get >5amps at 12V. Me and josh both run them on our benches.

Electrical Engineers do it on impulse, with faster rise times, with more power, and less resistance at higher frequencies, without shorts, until it Hertz

I think I might have a 250w or 300w. Not sure if that would be enough to run the chargers. I will look for it and see if I can find it.

If I remember correctly you run the green ATX pin, to the black pin to fire up the supply. These are dirt cheap, and can be run in parallel.

If an ATX power supply is fine with you, and you can do a bit of modding I am SURE I have several laying around. That you can have, or trade for frags hehe.

I don't care what it is or what it looks like I just need it to work. I am going to build it inside a nice wooden box with a few 120v plugs so I can charge my transmitters and odd ball batteries in the same place. Once the garage is done I will have a bench just for r/c hobby stuff.

Well at one point yesterday I had something plugged into every wall along the garage. LOL I want one place to keep everything, easier to keep an eye on things.
