Title: Vibrant experiences.
Post by: Warhawk937 on September 16, 2019, 08:19:26
After the tank reset I'm finding it harder to keep the uglys at bay.   I believe this is due to a reduction in the bio filter.   I am going to start dosing various strains of bacteria to the tank.  biospira, mb7, dr tims,  and vibrant.   I here that this stuff works and wanted to know if any of you have experience with it?????

I haven’t tried any of those products but as long as your water chemistry is in check, it should eventually balance itself out naturally.

I have used BioSpira many times and have always had good results. My understanding of Vibrant is that it is basically carbon dosing. If you use that, make sure you keep an eye on PO4 & NO3.

Best to remove any cheato if you have any. It will kill that also, so best to remove it before treatment.

from what I have read vibrant is an  aggressive bio culture that will out compete other nuisance strands but the cost is the potential to have nutrient levels explode in your system as the dino / diatom/ hair algea ect die off.  hope it works

You have to watch nutrients for sure. If you use it for algae go slow and be patient. It works but you need to skim hard. Also need to watch that your nitrates and phosphates don’t bottom out. If you watch the 2nd or third episode of BRS tv the 360 build the guy who came up with the stuff is on it and answers some good questions and explains a lot about it.
Here, I will save you the work.....
