I did the same with Brine shrimp per brain's advise, and they worked out great, got nice and fat, I "seived" them out and froze them in ice trays.
I also tried this with the pods, but mine crashed, I think because they were getting cooked as I tried it during that hot spell in summer, and I started with a bad cuture of pods(not Brian's, they were online ordered).
I found with my brine shrimp and pods that they attracted a ton of bugs because of the open water, so I placed a small fan blowing across them and it put an end to the bug problem.
