The Thune/Vetter amendment failed by 2 votes today. That would have been a great Victory for ccw packers.
 I had contacted both our senators yesterday and urged them to vote for this bill. Not to find out HOW they voted.

I did a little research on the HR 45 bill and found that the concensus is it will not make it out of comittee. There hasn't been anyone to second the bill yet.

And ya it sucks about the CCW bill not passing. But with my ohio CCW I am still happy I can carry all the places I go.

Were looking for a few good outlaws!!

The man can choke on it

Personally I think that the CCW thing is a sham its like registering yourself with them in a sense. They will use this to find gun owners IMO.

Pre-communist Poland had registration and one year later the communist came to all the 'law abiding citizens' since they knew where they all lived and collected their guns. And Poland fell

Not for open carry. Any law abiding citizen (no felony convictions) that has a legally purchased firearm can open carry in the state of Ohio.  Meaning that the gun must be visible to everyone, like a cop on duty carries his gun on the outside of his belt.

 I did not know that. I just assumed that a ccw lic was required.
Of course I'm not sure that that might not be asking for trouble.

I have my CCW but I open carry A LOT.  I like to do it as a kind of social experiment.  The reactions of different people is interesting to me.  I have never actually had anyone say anything to me when I open carry.  If you look like your supposed to be carrying it people assume you are.  After all what kind of criminal would walk around with a gun on his hip in plane sight.  It might be a good idea to try if any of you are a little shady and going to rob some place.  The problem for someone that doesn't have a CCW is transportation. You have to have your gun empty and no bullets can be in any type of quick loader or a clip.  They also must be in seperate areas of the car and not easily reached.  It kind of sucks to have to get out of your car load you clip and then your gun.  Then when your ready to leave you have to empty your gun and clip again and put it all away.  It's just easy to get the CCW if you want to carry a gun.

I thought you could have clips loaded as long as they are locked in a seperate compartment and not accesible without getting out of the vehicle.  Thats what I have always done is keep the guns in the trunk and ammo/clips in the back seat.  Here's what I found on transportation.

Ohio prohibits any person from knowingly transporting or having a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle where the firearm is accessible to the operator or any passenger without leaving the vehicle. Ohio Rev. Code Ann. § 2923.16(B). Furthermore, the state prohibits any person from knowingly transporting or having a firearm in a motor vehicle, unless it is unloaded and is carried in:

A closed package, box, or case;

A compartment that can be reached only by leaving the vehicle;

Plain sight and secured in a rack or holder made for securing a firearm;

Plain sight, with the action open or the weapon stripped or, if the firearm is of a type on which the action will not stay open or which cannot easily be stripped, in plain sight.

If you have your CCW you can carry a loaded gun on your person at anytime in the vehicle or not, aside from prohibited areas.

How does the ccw work does it have to be a certain gun or can it be any gun you own.  I don't have a good gun for that my only pistol is a glock 34.

CCW can be for any handgun you can conceal. There are a lot of people that with propper attire and a good holster will carry full size 1911s concealed.

I'm guessing a glock 34 is a full size. With baggy clothes and a IWB holster you should be able to conceal it.

I carry a full size CZ 75-B in a inside the belt holster.  I forget it's even there.  The only change I hade to make in my clothing is in the waste of my pants.  It has to be big enough for the extra size of the gun.  I find it very comfortable and easily accessable even while driving in the car.

Subject: Fw: Gun Confiscation Is Beginning - Senate Bill SB-2099

HELLO PEOPLE,   SIT DOWN, YOU'RE NOT GONNA LIKE THIS ONE.

GUN CONFISCATION IS BEGINNING-- SENATE BILL SB-2099

Confirmed on snopes.com - http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/blairholt.asp

HR45 Gun Owners Watch Out

Concerning the Blair-Holt proposed legislation: Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own. It may require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun.
In November, our president promised he was not going after our Second Amendment rights. This bill was introduced on Feb. 24. This bill will become public knowledge 30 days after it is voted into law. This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee can pass this without the Senate voting on it at all. The full text of the proposed amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage, http://www.senate.gov/ <http://www.senate.gov//>  <http://www.senate.gov/<http://www.senate.gov/> >  You can find the bill by doing a search by the bill number, SB-2099.

You know who to call; I strongly suggest you do. Please send a copy of this e-mail to every gun owner you know.

Congress is now starting on the firearms confiscation bill. If it passes, gun owners will become criminals if you don't fully comply. It has started. Very Important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm  Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009. Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because the government  is trying to fly it under the radar.  To find out about this - go to any government website and type in HR 45or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.

Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:  It is registered -You are fingerprinted -You supply a current Driver's  License -You supply your Social Security # -You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing - Each update change of ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25 - Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail. - There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. They would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

If you think this is a joke - go to the website and take your pick of many options to read this. It is long and lengthy.  But, more and more people are becoming aware of this. Pass the word along. Any hunters in your family pass this along.
This is just a "termite" approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society to the point we have no defense - chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes it.
This is one to act on whether you own a gun or not. If you take my gun, only the criminal will have one to use against me. HR 45 only makes me/us less safe.

Please.. copy and send this out to EVERYONE in the USA , whether you support the Right to Bear Arms or not. YOUR rights are next. Government is taking away our right to choose, as well as the right to defend ourselves from intruders.
CALL YOUR SENATOR
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SO, THERE......WHAT DO YOU THINK?   ARE THEY TAKING
AWAY OUR RIGHTS AS AMERICANS?  WE ARE PROTECTED
BY THE BILL OF RIGHTS,  SECOND AMENDMENT.  WE HAVE
THE RIGHT TO OWN AND BEAR ARMS.
THIS WILL BE THE BIGGEST REVOLT AGAINST OBAMA EVER !
HE'LL THINK THE REACTION OF THE PEOPLE,TO THE HEALTH CARE BILL WAS NOTHING, WHEN  HE STARTS TALKING ABOUT TAKING OUR GUNS AWAY.
CAN'T HE SEE THAT OTHER COUNTRIES ARE UPSET ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO OWN THEIR OWN GUNS, AND ALSO ABOUT THEIR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM.   THEY TRIED IT AND IT DIDN'T WORK !
DUHHHH.   OPEN YOUR EYES OBAMA.   IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN HERE IN AMERICA ......THE LAND OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE.
