I see these all the time in my tanks. This is the first time I have seen one with this many legs.

we get them all the time, sometimes as big as a quarter, different colors. been told that they are mostly harmless. as long as on the glass or in the sand, no worries. on a coral, get rid of it.

They look the same. I've never seen them on any coral.

If they are not on your corals, like Kev said, maybe they will be ok.

When I had my 75 reef setup it was full of those things. I never saw them on any corals thankfully... just always on the glass. I never noticed any damage on my corals. Thankfully when I moved my rock and what was left of my corals to my 125 I must have gotten lucky enough not to carry them over. I have not seen any in a year now.

I saw one on a coral on Christmas Eve. I may lookin into getting those (can't remember the name) shrimp that eat star fish.

Honestly, I've had them in tanks for 10-12 years and never had one munch on a coral. Maybe I've been lucky, I suppose.

I think they are asterina stars. I saw the one one on a coral Christmas eve but I don't know if it was eating the coral or just wishing it Merry Christmas!

Probably just getting its Christmas freak on!

I would say hold off on the harlequin shrimp until you see some sort of decline in your corals health. Mine seem to do nothing but eat algae

I've always heard they were bad for eating sps. I have them in my tank and have had issues with some of my sps turning white toward the bottom like something was eating them. I have never been able to find any actually on the coral though. Every time I see one I take it out. I have quite a collection of them now but I still find one every few days it seems like. Supposedly linckia stars will eat them.

I've never heard linkia stars would eat them. I may have to look into that.
