Title: Tank too clean?
Post by: JSellars on April 15, 2020, 11:19:22
Is there a such thing as too clean of a tank? My snails keep dying off, is it because I don’t feed very often? I broadcast feed once a week (25gal tank) and every 3 days I drop about 8 pellets in for my 2 clowns. Is there just not enough waste to keep the snails fed and alive? I started with 4 snails, they all died off within a couple months, so I added 6 more and they died off within about 3mo.

Just curious but why are you not feeding everyday? I used to do the once a day feeding but now have to feed twice at a minimum for the fish i have.

I only have 2 clowns, so I just feed them every 2 or 3 days, then I do a broadcast feed for the corals on sundays.

a cuc needs waste or algae to survive. so yes if the tank is sterile they will die.

I agree with Justin. I feed every day multiple times. They are starving.
