Clown fish with issues...
« on: December 14, 2011, 19:49:45 »
Hello team....

It's been a while since I've posted on the board, but I have a fish with an issue and I'm hoping that someone here can help.

I have a False Perc since 2003 that now appears to have some sort of growth/deformity on her face/mouth which is preventing her from eating.  The situation has gradually been getting worse for the past couple of weeks and I'm not sure what, if anything can be done to help.

Have any of you seen or dealt with like this before?  If so, what did you do to resolve the issue?

Thanks in advance

Hey Mitch....sorry to hear about your fish. I would recommend you give Daniel T. Brauer, D.V.M. a call. He is the local "exotic pets" vet in the area. I am pretty sure he has operated on fish before to remove growth tissue, etc...He is the only vet in the area that fills my prescription for Interceptor as well for my SPS corals...He has a Koi pond in is office....He should be able to help you out, if interested. Best of luck with your fish. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

If it's a white, clumpy growth, sounds like lymphocystis. I know that some folks have had luck with surgical removal, others have had it drop off on its own.

Seems like a bit of a crap shoot.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.

After nearly 9 years, 4 diff tanks, 4 diff locations, and the windstorm of 2008, 1 of the first SW fish that I ever purchased surfed in front of the PH for the last time yesterday.  Observing my little piece of the reef will never be quite the same.
