Help with a 125gal
« on: February 12, 2013, 19:42:22 »
I am asking for help in the form of equipment and livestock, for a 125gal freshwater (probably angelfish and tetras). I work for an emergency shelter in Hamilton and an old friend of mine has given me a 125 to set up in the shelter. It is a full system but I would like to upgrade just a little so that we can grow live plants. I am also looking at adding a canopy and if need be just putting a basic one together. Primarily to keep people from feeding the cute little fish white bread and crackers. I will post a quick list of stuff and update it as we go. Anyone who donates can recieve a tax write off for their gift and we will also probably be making a plaque with everyones name on it, something that could benefit our sponsors because we have a lot of business people and churches who work with us and it would be some free advertising. So I am reaching out to members and sponsors. Thanks for your help this should be interesting.

Hers is the list.

Lights to fit a 72 inch tank Prob PC's or T5's able to grow live plants (aquired)
Fish
Plants
Oak stained canopy or
wood to make a canopy
Filters - canister or larger Whisper or similar style (aquired)
fish food.

That is it for now. We will see how it goes.

What kind of substrate are you going to be using?  Ive got about 125lbs of natural colord gravel.  I may allso have some larger HOTB filters that will work for you ill have to look.  Also if you have a hard time finding lighting and you build a hood you can just run drop lights with 6500 PC bulbs.
