The only bacteria that affect nitrates are of the anaerobic variety. Deep sand beds or complicated filter setups are your only routes for that.
De nitrate isn't a chemical right? It's just a porous media for the same type of DSB Bactria to colonize
the bed is 6 inches deep, 12 long and 8 across, i have not disturbed the sand in it lately....
by lately ...was it just before the problem started ?Someone with more experience help me out here ... If a DSB we disturbed wouldn't it (in theory ) release large amounts of nitrate ?
