Disappearing chromis
« on: December 31, 2011, 14:24:29 »
So I just added two clowns into my tank and there were three existing green chromis in the tank.

It's been almost 48 hours and last night all was well, his morning the largest of the three chromis is gone! Lol

I took out the only fake rock that he would have been able to hide in, also checked the 28g nano tanks sump area and there is no sign of him anywhere. My question is... Are two clowns and two small chromis enough to kill and consume another chromis in one evening?

The only other thing in the tank are snails and a small hermit that hitch hiked along from reef cleaners.org.

Thanks for the help guys.

Highly unlikely.  Even if they were to somehow kill him, they would not eat him.    It is somewhere in the tank.......or jumped.     Did you check your overflow?

There is only one hermit and he is about half the size of a dime.

I also checked all around the stand for "traces" but my guess is that if he jumped out while I had the hood open yesterday he must have been snatched by the cat or something.

Welp, I still didn't find the missing chromis, but you can tell that the female clown owns the tank already...

Stuck my hand in there to do some cleaning and moved stuff around and she swims up and bites me lol... Definitely a territorial girl
