Lighting Help
« on: December 27, 2007, 21:27:57 »
I am looking to change my lighting system on my reef tank.  I currently have a 260 W JBJ power compact system.  What would you all suggest?  I have a 120 gal tank ( 48x24x24).  I mosly have easy care corals (polyps, mushrooms, zoas). If I get a new system, the JBJ's will be for sale if anybody is intersted.

Down the road I may want to change corals but as of now I am staying with what I have but I am getting more.  I don't particularly care for the JBJ to be honest.  It is in need of new bulbs and thought I may upgrade now.

If your not going to get into real light intensive corals (hard stuff) and staying with mainly softies you can get by with
2 x 175's - this will work for higher light stuff if you have enough rock to be able to place some things higher in the water column closer to the lights

if you ever want to keep higher light stuff go with
2 x 250's
