Mag Drive Pump
« on: October 25, 2010, 00:32:41 »
Is it risky using a Mag Drive 7 externally? I started working on a water change station this evening and have this pump left over from my previously system so would like to use it if I can.

I ran my mag 18 external for a while. I never had trouble with it I only stopped when I took down the fish room and went compact on my setup. If I find a good deal on a new mag 5/7 I would do my water change setup the same way with an external pump.

I have read a few horror stories on RC and have heard people recommend against it, but never tried it personally
75G Mixed Reef w/ 30G sump/refuge

Electrical Engineers do it on impulse, with faster rise times, with more power, and less resistance at higher frequencies, without shorts, until it Hertz

Lazy,

I had one running external on my skimmer that had a small leak... So if you decide you aren't going to use it let me know.. ;)

I am going to give it a whirl. It is in my basement sump pump closest so a leak wouldn't be all that bad.

When I used them external, they almost always leaked from the front cover.
