Clown Trigger fish
« on: December 05, 2010, 18:50:21 »
A friend of mine got a clown trigger fish for their FOWLR tank.  It has been fine for two weeks then suddenly this morning found it dead.  It had been eating, looked healthy, nothing had been picking on it.  After taking it out of the tank and inspecting it there were no wounds or cuts etc.  Has been in the tank with a lion which was removed yesterday due to selling it.  Coral beauty, puffer, niger, humma humma and yellow tang.  The clown didn't appear aggressive nor did any of the other fish.  A water change was done yesterday with no effect on any of the other fish.  Any ideas what might have caused this?  No water quality tests were done so I can't answer any of those questions.  My friend was told clown triggers are a hardy fish, however I've personally never had any luck with them.  Anyone else have experience with them either negative or positive?

Thanks!

Yep, knew that.  This one showed no sogn of aggression yet...Really had no reason to at this point.  Just can't figure out why it was fine for 2 weeks then suddenly died.

could have just been a sick fish or it could have something to do with how it was collected

I suppose it could have been, however the fish store where my friend got it has had it for quite some time and it was doing fine there as well as in the new owners tank.  This is an established tank so it's not cycling or anything.

Nope, been watching it for a while to make sure it looked and acted healthy.  That's part of why it's so frustrating.
