Out with the old in with the new....

New tank has been ordered. Picking it up September 11.  Nothing cures a depressing old tank like a shiny new one  ;D

Yeah I doubt that. We won't be hosting September.  Possibly early 2009 after the tank has a couple of months to mature and there is something put back into it.

It was supposed to be the 11th, but slipped a little. Thanks to Dodd at North Dixie Reef for making sure I ended up with a perfect tank.

Left the house at 4PM, Got to NDR at 5:30 (Mine is the little tank in the front :) )

Finally got back home at 10PM after a good meal with El Presidente (Verper) and Baggerhog.

Should be getting the stand tomorrow and will start planning the sump. I will also be making some mesh tops (so I can keep some jumpers) and painting the back.

Thanks to Scott and Andy for helping me load/unload.  And thanks to Dodd at NDR for his outstanding customer service.

I just want to add if anyone is thinking of possibly looking into a new tank the footprint on this tank is very cool. This is one of the coolest little tanks  ;D I have seen in quite some time. I really like the ddep look and the footprint of this tank. BTW The piece of 7/16 plywood never decapitated either one of us on the way home. Thanks Dodd for the use of one of mansss greatest creations "Duct Tape".

Nice!

I should have the stand today and will start planning the sump. I'll probably order whatever I'm going to use for the sump on Monday. Once that gets here I will be starting the real build. Until then it's going to go slow. I would say I will have it up and running in 4-6 weeks assuming the sump does not take forever to get here.

Tank as it sits now. Has sand, a couple of tunzes hanging on the glass, and one ballast up on the back wall. I'm trying to figure out exactly where everything will go so I can make a final decision on a sump.

No sump. It's done, but for one reason or another I just haven't been able to meet up with the builder to get it. His name is Robb, he's fairly local to me.

Background is done. I siliconed eggcrate to the back, used great stuff foam and rock and then covered it all with sand.

I should have pics of the sump tonight. I'm hoping to have it plumbed and filling with RO/DI Sunday.

Despite my best efforts, the plumbing is not finished. I need two 1" street elbows and non of the local stores had them. I'll have to order them from Savko in the morning and finish up on Tuesday. I will probably start filling tomorrow either way as I'm sure it will take more then a couple days to fill it up.

I use one of these hooked to a solinoid ran directly from my RO/DI. I just modded the mounting bracket to mount a little cleaner to the sump.

well if you dont then it would be like one of those fancy tanks with the water flowing down all the sides of the glass right I would just plug the drains up and go for that.

The wife would love it. Thanks for the idea. I'll get them plugged up tonight.

Actually it's all plumbed and the tank is 5" full after 9.5 hours.  At this rate I am looking at turning the pumps on Friday night probably.

And the plumbing is done enough to start running it. Still need to plumb in the reactors under the stand and the skimmer out in the garage.

Thanks Tim.

As Tim said I don't plan to run any macros or mangroves. I haven't used either in more than a year. I pretty much rely on a huge skimmer and lots of water changes for nitrate control. I can always add a tank underneath if I decide I have to have additional help.

It's an ORA naked (you are seeing part of the anenome, there is no white dot) and a ORA standard or whatever you would call them.

Dude, i think that was my cup coral that I traded to him when I took down my tank and had to move!  i recognized it...I'll see if can dig a picture up of it.  Was it mounted to a small piece of live rock with aquamend?

The right side of the cup has a small indentation...looks like you've rotated it and that indent is on the bootom of your pic.

Hey Tim.

Anthias are no more. Not 100% sure what happened but I think they were more or less electricuted. Left for work with 12 fat, healthy anthias and came home to 12 dead floating anthias. Put my hand in the tank while pulling them out and got a nice zap. Everything else checked out okay, so I'm thinking it had to be the electricity.

As of now I'm not using the eggcrate. I don't have any jumpers so no need.  Also, no shrimp in my tank. I have lions now so I don't want to provide that expensive of a meal.

Some somewhat recent pics. Quality isn't great. I've removed my SPS and added a couple of Angelfish. Oh and the clown was eaten by one of the lions after living harmoniously for 6 months.
