What return pump are you using?  Brand, internal, external, flow rate.I'm thinking of changing somethings around on the tank in the next few weeks. Trying to get some ideas.

Are you using 1" plumbing or are you using larger?

I'm actually using 1.5" for the feed to the pump and 1.25" for the tank return.

Velocity T4 on my 90g & 1 on my 260g

rated at 1220 gph @ 4 ft

quietest pumps I have every used

The bad is it can bring in extra heat into your tank sometimes 1-3 degrees.

If you want a 2-4K gph the Dart & Snapper are hard to beat, VERY quiet!!

300g tub o fish

Reeflo Snapper, external, returns to two sea swirls. Pump is rated at like 2600gph I figure I'm at about 1500 GPH on my 240.

It is the lowest watt pump that I could find that could still push that much water.

Ok well, I had a good time at the meeting tonight but all things must come to and end right.  I will be replacing my return pump a lot sooner than expected. I got home tonight and the cord it hot and it vibrates every 5 minutes. i turned it off and let it cool and it seamed better but i can tell its not the same as before. Now im looking at 2000gph ish. I am thinking a snapper but i would like some feed back on other experience that all of you guys have.

Sorry to hear that.  Those MDM / Reeflo pumps are very good.  Low wattage for the gph.  They have a 3 year warranty and great customer service.

after doing some research last night on all the external pumps i could find that are saltwater safe, I am going to go with the snapper. With the cost of electricity here it will cost about $5.00 a month to run. We are also checking into some other flow options.

I'm running 1.5" reduced to 1" before it goes into two sea swirls. It's quiter than the mag 5 I have running my skimmer so that is pretty good.
