Title: 28 gallon JBJ nano cube
Post by: oldschoolcoupe on August 21, 2016, 17:38:19
I've hade this tank up and running about 2 1/2 years now. My first reef tank and I've learned a heck of a lot. Thanks to everyone here that has helped me along the way, special thanks to NEWMAN. Pretty basic setup really.
28g. JBJ nano cube intermediate LED
stock pumps, both on continuously
GFO in a two little fishes reactor
algae scrubber (experiment showing promise)
blue and ultra violet stunner strips
air stone skimmer
DIY frag rack
basket for propagating BTAs

P.S. my frogspawn (lower left corner) has never really extended like it should. I've had it for 2 years. Any thoughts on that?

Let me know what you guys think about the tank, happy reefing.

Everything is looking really good. I wonder if the frogspawn is a short tentacle?

Looks like you are doing a great job! A lot of diverse corals, looking especially health.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I've always tried the easiest and most colorful corals I could find. I've been thinking about trying SPS (Steve's stag for sale caught my eye).  Steve, if you read this, are you interested in trading for purple gorgonian or blue sympodium frags, lol? Anyway, I'm cautious since it seems like I neglect my tank a little in the spring/summer months due to my kid's sports. I don't think I did a water change or dose anything from April to July this year, I just kept it topped off. After doing a couple water changes and started using reef plus again the colors came back really well, the meteor shower is slower in getting color back but it is. I currently dose Mag as needed and 2 part alk and calcium. Although I haven't dosed them in 6 months. I've been thinking of switching to kalkwasser in the top off water. Any thoughts on which is better and easier?
