Tank build question

OK, reefers...  Refugium sump with external skimmer, or Berlin (straight-through) sump with in-sump skimmer?  Both are 65 gallon, both flow 1500 gph.

This is a 210 on a factory prefab cherry stand.  Beef up the stand?  If so, how?  Anything documented out there as an example?
