Talk dirty to me. How do you run your skimmate? Dry or wet? What is the best way? I never realized how bad skimmate smells.

You know guys the whole "dirty talk" thing was just a joke. lol I was just wondering if you have your skimmer set to produce thicker skimmate or more of a watery skimmate. This thread went down hill fast.

I used to skim very dry and thick, but found that a wetter skim seemed to keep my tank cleaner but I think I starved my sea cucumber to death.

Ahh...l need something bigger, much bigger

Presently using a reef dynamics rc500-1 - actually a older euro reef cs500 modified with a bubbleblaster5000 pump

Presently skimmer is 30in, like something 3-4ft tall due to future fish load

We run ours on the dryer darker side and augment with LOTS of bio filtration. Haven't seen a single rite, rate or phate since the cycle. But just learned that we need to start dosing iodine and amino acids.

Dark greenish brown, on the wet side.  I empty the cup about every 10 days..  I run a SWC cone 160 skimmer.

When I just put my skimmer in, it was full in 3-4 days. But it looked real light. Now It has been 2 days and I have maybe 1/2" in the bottom of the cup. Real dark and nasty.

Mine tends to be on the wetter side with a nice column of foam.  It's never too smelly.  However, lately I have been feeding more than usual to acclimate a cleaner wrasse and bannerfish.  So the smelly, thick, black, skimmate is in full force.
