sps tip cutting
« on: December 23, 2014, 22:20:43 »
Just wondering if others here have tried cutting off the tips of slow to nongrowth sps corals?  I have tried this recently with several corals with mixed results.  I have a piece of raspberry and pink lemonade that havent put on much growth at all in a year plus.  They have encrusted well but not upward growth.  I have cut the tip on both of these to see what would happen.  They have both healed over and formed a new tip but no new growth.  I tried this on my green slimmer that has done the same (encrusted well but not vertical).  This coral has taken off after the cut.  Each place I cut it it has started a new growth branch.  Maybe 1/2 inch in the last month or two.  I snipped the tips of a sunset millie last night and am curious to see what it does.
