Anyone have an ID on this?  A friend gave it to me as a 'sand sifting" snail...

LOL, I'll take my chances. ;)    Plus the chances of me catching my powder blue without taking the tank down is slim to none.  :D

well I know there's 2 kinds of olive snails, one's that are more cool water guys and ones that are more for our systems. not sure what kind yours is though! I'm sure someone else will be able to chime in on this as I'm not too good on actual specimen ID's! lol I can just tell you what kind it looks like. lol  ;D as far as diet, not too sure either, I've always heard olive snails were predatory, but then again, I may have heard it from a bad source, never know. I'd keep an eye on him for a couple days. it was like that big giant snail I had, remember him?? well he died as I didn't have what he wanted in my tank except algae and seemed algae wasn't part of his diet I guess! lol  :-[

The guy that gave it to me has had it for at least a year or so.  He took his tank down and gave me this snail and all of his LR.  I think he had at least 50 pounds or more!

I think you got this snail from my brother Micki. Jacks had it listed as a orange footed sand sifting snail.

Well, a month or so ago I noticed this snail had apparently gotten stuck between somr LR.  I moved some things to get the snail out and saw that it had died.  However when I moved the shell I noticed 2 very "tiny" shells that looked just like it crawl out of the inside of the shell.  I haven't seen them again until tonight!  I noticed one on the stylo skeleton.  Here are a few pictures.  Does anyone know anything about how they breed?

Here is a oicture of the one that died:

Here are a few of 1 of the babies:

That's just a skeleton.  It was my stylo that died over night for no reason.  I just haven't taken it out yet.

Hey I to have one of those little ones in my tank. I found it when I switched everything over to the 29 gallon tank yesterday.

Cool!  Did you ever have this snail in your tank?  I know it came from your brother.
