life back to normal
« on: May 05, 2006, 21:44:35 »
got my tank completely up and running again. all i need to do is spend a couple hours acclimating over all my corals , and gluing them down for a good long time of growing.already put a small pillicapora(no clue on how to spell) frag i had in it to see if the water was OK and it had great polyp extension. so then i threw in my huge staghorn colony and it was the "fluffiest" i have ever seen it. getting excited now. stocking will be tons of dartfish. 4 blue gudgeon darts, 3 scissor tail, 4 bar dartfish, two firefish, sixline wrasse, baby hippo tang and a few other very very peaceful fish.

i stacked my rock steep so i have lots of room on the sandbed for my favorite things(brains and clams)

\

im supprised at how much coralline stayed on the rock without light for 3-4 weeks. all the other nice colors died off though. just plain old purple coralline for now.

Looks good. How long have you had the tank up for?

it was offically running with no leaks or nothing on Wednesday. i also got rock in the same day. added a big gsp rock that day also. although i did have my tub behind the tank with rock and water running for a week or two so it is somewhat"tankwater" and not all new

there is no reason for there to be an ammonia spike. its just like moving a tank and using new sand. i saved all my rock and kept it in water, circulating, did water changes on it and all is well. the rock is 101% cured and ready for action. i am adding my hardy corals first and about 2-3 weeks from now i will put all my sps back in.

i am taking this task on with caution. i had my rock in my sump with 100g of water brewing for 2 weeks or so. i test for ph, alk, ammonia, and nitrite almost daily making sure everything is good... for now its just a really really clean tank. my plan is to add my corals which have been living in a crappy system in over the next week(mostly softies, some lps) and see how everything does for another 2 weeks then add my favorite/less hardy pieces that i have in my 29g now.
